Hope scholarship was originally started in 1993 by Georgia’s Governor General Zell Miller in Georgia, USA. Same as other scholarships this program also aims to offer financial aid to meritorious students who show fine educational excellence in their High school. This is a complete lottery fund educational scholarship managed by GSFC (Georgia Student Finance Commission). HOPE is the abbreviation for Helping Outside Pupils Educationally, with an intent to help those having financial difficulties in pursuing their higher studies or diplomas.
This program can be utilized only at registered government and private firm-owned colleges in Georgia. The primary criteria to be eligible to get the scholarship is to be a Georgia resident and must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA in high school, and the same level of performance should be maintained annually in the university as well to remain eligible for the scholarship.

Hope Scholarship Requirements 2024
The Georgia Hope scholarship is a merit-based educational funding program made especially for Georgia students or eligible US citizens showing amazing academic excellence in high school. Hope Scholarship application rejection rate is quite significant due to the low acceptance rate. To avoid this, every aspiring applicant must follow the below-given requirements and criteria to be eligible for the Georgia Hope Scholarship;
- Must have completed high school from a recognized school in Georgia with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0. In addition to GPA, there should be four complete credits received in the previous year.
- There should be an in-hand enrollment letter for any UG course from a recognized and registered University/college in the State. Additionally, the students should have the FAFSA or GSFAPPS, which is the student aid for Georgia students.
- There should be no fault in collateral or loan returning procedures under the federal or Georgia financial aid schemes.
Hope Scholarship TN
Hope Scholarship TN is the abbreviation for the Tennessee scholarship program developed particularly for the students of Tennessee to provide them with financial aid and support them in paying their university fees. The Tennessee Hope scholarship is a Lottery-oriented program funded and supported by the state lottery system. The eligibility criteria for the Hope Scholarship tn are vivid as compared to the other Hope programs. The prior criteria is that every applicant must be a citizen of Tennessee and also should have completed their high schooling from there.
Apart from these, the applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 along with an ACT score of 21 or SAT score of 10600. Just like most other scholarships, there is a requirement for FAFSA student aid. The scholarship has the potential to cover as much as 75% of tuition expenses and is applicable for a duration of up to five years. It is required that students enroll full-time at an accredited institution within 1.5 years following their school.
Hope Scholarship WV
Hope Scholarship WV, or the Western Virginia scholarship program, provides funding to the elementary school-winning students of West Virginia’s K12 Qualifiers, helping them achieve better learning and educational experiences. The Hope Scholarship WV offers financial support to the parents of K12 qualifying students to give their school fees, homeschool curriculum support, and other essential finances. To be eligible and be able to apply for the WV Hope scholarship, the students must be registered full-time students in any public or private school in West Virginia or at least kindergarten.
The board for Education Savings account will send an award letter to qualified recipients within 45 days after receiving a fully completed application. Parents have the option to renew their child’s scholarship annually until the child completes high school or reaches the age of 21. The scholarship amount may differ annually; however, for the last academic year, it was set at $4,488.82 per student.
Hope Scholarship Guidelines
The requirements and guidelines for Hope scholarship vary depending upon the type of Hope scholarship the applicant is willing to enroll in. However, the basic criteria and requirements are similar for every Hope scholarship as most of them are lottery-based programs.
Hope Scholarship Guidelines;
- Students and their families must be Georgia residents or US citizens or legal US citizens with over 12 months of residency.
- Every student must have a combined or cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 in their high school and be registered in a public or private undergraduate university course. Whereas for the Tennessee Hope Scholarship, a 21 ACT score is required throughout
- To maintain the ongoing scholarship it is required to obtain above-average grades in the university.
- Complete the FAFSA certificate or the GSFAPPS/Georgia student aid.
- The disbursement of the fund amount varies for the undergraduate and associate courses: $298 and $95 per credit hour, respectively.

- For a bachelors degree hopes scholarship covers up to 100% of the tuition fee or per credit hour up to $300
- For Masters/Associate/PhD Hopes cover 100% of tuition cost or per credit hour up to $96.00.
